Dear Students and Friends:

Master Malee has been invited to participate at the The First US-China Friendship Kite Festival on April 20, and she would like to you to join her!

The festival will take place in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, April 20. Community leaders, one hundred fifty Chinese community associations, and over two thousand people will take part in the event.

According to the organizers, the purpose of the event is to use Chinese and American kites “as messengers of peace, flying over the American capital, symbolizing freedom, beauty, equality, and reciprocity, and the eternal friendship between China and the United States.”

Saturday will be full of exciting activities, include a Kite Friendship Competition and lots of demonstrations, such as a 200-foot dragon dance, dance, singing, “bianlian” (Sichuanese “face-changing” show), and much more!

Master Malee will be the leading representative of tai chi, and will lead tai chi forms during the demonstrations.

On Sunday, participants will go on a tour of D.C. to monuments such as the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Yoshino Cherry Blossoms around the Tidal Basin, and the Sino-US Intangible Cultural Heritage Forum.
